Inhalt: | The critical catalogue for the exhibition "Traditional Construction under Emperor Franz Josef" focuses on architecture, construction, typical building details and everyday situations of the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The building boom, triggered by, among other things, the need to accomodate people coming to work, peaked in this period in all major Czech and Moravian cities. The intensive construction of urban tenement houses greatly influenced their character. The building design, construction and structural engineering of th exteriors and interiors - e.g. water supply, sewerage, heating, lighting and glare, etc. - brought a new level of quality of living that we cannot imagine life without today. The critical catalogue for the exhibition discusses not only the charasteristic elements of the building structures, but also a life at the end of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
