Abstract: | According to Frédéric Migayrou, the history of Japanese architecture has seen a permanent tension between the impossible reconstruction of tradition and the unceasing assimilation of modernity. Although having one of the most active international architecture scenes since World War II, a comprehensive overview of Japanese architectural creation from the post-war years has been lacking until now.
